Salary range is between £60,000pa and £90,000pa, dependant on experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and highly experienced Principal Consultant to provide expert advice and technical solutions to our clients in the maritime industry.

The successful candidates will have a strong background and extensive experience and be able to provide consultancy services in any of the following disciplines in Ship’s or Submarines:

  • Marine engineering,
  • Safety Engineering and Safety Management,
  • Systems Engineering,
  • Supportability,
  • Nuclear Engineering,
  • Naval Architecture,
  • Combat System Design,
  • Weapon Design,
  • Weapons Integration,
  • Legislation Compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance, thought-leadership and expert advice.
  • Shape our technical services, lead Naval Solutions’ technical disciplines.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, risk analysis and assessment.
  • Provide Technical Support and Assurance to clients during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of maritime projects.
  • Review and evaluate design proposals, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Author technical documents, reports, manuals, and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in Maritime and Naval Sector, engineering lifecycle and MoD Procurement.

  • Due to the nature of the work that Naval Solutions undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy SC clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.

Desirable

  • Degree in relevant Engineering discipline related field.
  • Engineering Fellow or working towards becoming an Engineering Fellow.
  • Although not essential, this role would particularly suit a Royal Navy/ Merchant Navy/ ex-MoD personnel.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the maritime industry, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of either vessel design, construction, or operation,
  • Understanding relevant regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability supervise multiple projects
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
